Columbine – Lessons We Must Learn
As we pause to remember the Columbine tragedy on this 9th anniversary, let us do the victims a final service and acknowledge this cowardly act was preventable. To further honor the victims, the murderer’s names are not listed in this posting.
Jan – April 1998
• “h” publishes plans for murder his websire, specifically threatens Brooks Brown.
• “h” keeps a diary outlining his plans for murder.
May 1998
• Parents of Brooks provide proof of threats to local law enforcement.
June 1998
• “h” and “k” construct pipe bombs in household garage.
July 1998
• “h” creates layout on Columbine in online violent video game
August 1998
• “h” and “k” “practice” exploding pipe bombs
October – November 1998
• “h” and “k” turn in class projects with violent themes; including a video tape of who they would like to murder.
• “k’s” girlfriend purchased firearms
December 1998
• Bomb making continues
February 1999
• Acquisition of a Tech 9 pistol

• School counselor talks with “k” and his dad about violent themes in school work
April 20, 1999
• At 11:10 a.m the killers placed several bombs at the high school. When the bombing effort fails, they enter the school. Murdering 12 students and a teacher, as well as wounding 23 others, before shooting themselves.
